Sylvia is an engaged facilitator, strategist, and community builder with over 10 years of experience in participatory education. Sylvia graduated from the University of Southern California with a B.A. in Economics and a passion for youth development. Sylvia has written curricula and facilitated trainings with over 20,000 young people and adults as a Learning and Development Trainer for Planned Parenthood Los Angeles.
At Planned Parenthood, Sylvia helped develop a multi-pronged health intervention that demonstrated increased knowledge, and belief and behavior change in a randomized controlled trial evaluated by the Public Health Institute. The curriculum and training of facilitators is currently in use across California.
Sylvia co-founded Immediate Justice, a filmmaking nonprofit that has enabled over 1,000 young people across the U.S., Uganda, India and China to tell their stories through film. In 2017, Sylvia completed her MBA in Sustainable Business at Presidio Graduate School where she earned a Certificate in Cooperative Management and was the co-chair of the Diversity and Social Justice Initiative.
Sylvia’s current work is focused on combining her extensive nonprofit experience with her sustainable business education to create opportunities for economic resiliency.
