Whole Family Approaches

Human services are an essential for Americans enduring poverty, offering everything from groceries and cash support to community-wide transformation. But the interconnected strength of family is the necessary centering to human services, which span a dizzying array of individualized programs, contracts, and community needs.

Whole family approaches allow organizations to center family leadership and expertise to build power and maximize family success. Staff and families can then work together to design the services families need and deserve.

Our work towards whole family human services includes a series of projects that have resulted in the Family-Centered Coaching toolkit and organizational learning services. Partners across the country have lived into the model to center programs on the family as a whole.

Launched in 2020, the Family-Centered Coaching for Racial Equity Project is a partnership with organizations in New Orleans and Mississippi are uniquely equipped to model local systems, surface challenges and opportunities regarding racial equity, and explore how FCC can be used as the vehicle to alter the system and advance racial equity for impacted families.
