Financial education has overemphasized personal responsibility and downplayed systemic financial inequalities. Wealth or poverty is used to evaluate people’s intelligence and motivation. Our work explores how our beliefs and attitudes about money affect financial learning, teaching, and interactions with financial institutions and other stakeholders.
Our work toward inclusive financial education includes the Savings Initiative Project, which resulted in the development of Money Powerup Packs, and the Financial Capability Integration Project, which resulted in Money Mindset Cards.
